The King City Union School District is one of seven (7) feeder districts of the King City Joint Union High School District. The combined 2006/07 CBEDS enrollment of the two Districts is 4,564, with an 85% Free and Reduced student population of which 95% are Hispanic. Current combined staff of the two schools consists of 250 teachers and 125 classified employees. The two districts encourage parent and community involvement and offer a variety of opportunities to provide input.

The community ranges from migrant farm workers to large farmer/rancher and agricultural packing companies.

King City has a positive economic outlook. The city is development friendly and continues to attract new businesses and residential housing projects that improve the quality of life in the community.
