The World History Honors course covers the same content as the World History A class. World History Honors makes
great use of primary and literary sources. Students are required to analyze these sources and are encouraged to draw their own conclusions about historical issues. Since these sources are in fact original and not tailored for students in the manner of a textbook, the students who enroll in this class must have high reading skills. Correspondingly, students must also possess good writing skills in order to successfully complete essay assignments based on primary source documents. World History Honors
also stresses the connection between past and current events. Students will regularly be asked to find current newspaper and magazine articles about topics which are connected to past events being studied. The geography component of this course will also be tied in with current issues. Overall, World History Honors is a challenging but rewarding course. The course emphasizes the history of the U.S., Europe, Asia and the Middle East in the post-World War II era. There is a particular attention given to the Middle East and the U.S. role there, particularly in light of the Iraq war and the war on terrorism. The class uses a great deal of material from current magazines, newspapers, Internet sources and film to better explain modern events and movements.
