Message from the Superintendent
Message from the Superintendent’s Desk …
WELCOME to the King City Union School District website! I hope that you find this resource helpful. It is our plan to continue to expand and update the site in an effort to keep the community that we serve better informed.
It has been my pleasure to serve as the Superintendent since August of 2008 when I was hired as Superintendent for both the King City Union School District and the King City Joint Union High School District. Many challenges and changes have occurred over the past couple of years in these financially challenging times, one of the most significant being the separation of the common administration at the beginning of 2009-10 school year. The district offices are now located at 435 Pearl Street and the completion of this physical move of offices should be completed over spring break.
KCUSD boasts of a staff and school board who are proud and dedicated toward meeting the academic expectations of parents, students and the State of California. It is our desire that each and every student truly become “the very best” that they are capable of becoming … intellectually, emotionally, socially and psychologically, as well as a person of integrity and character.
The Governing Board of Trustees, staff and administration, in addition to its focus on educational outcomes, places the highest emphasis on the safety and well-being of our students. There is a strong desire to meet the challenges of today’s students in a safe and nurturing environment.
Parent and community involvement and participation is encouraged throughout the educational process. Only together can we meet the ever-increasing educational demands of a complex and technologically-advanced society.
I hope that we can continue to foster positive attitudes and relationships as we work together for our students!
Tom Michaelson, Ed.D
